Bad day for web 2.0

avatar_dupin_fuzz.jpg Fuzz.fr, a community digg like french website was being investigated those latest days for a legal fault concerning an image prejudice against Olivier Martinez, an actor whose private life had been blogged around and around by many bloggers, independantly from Fuzz Itself.

On March 27th 2008, Fuzz's webmaster ad fuzz itself were finally condemned to 1000 € for justice fees and 1500 € for prejudice for image prejudice of the actor.

Despite a great buzzing effect from many web actirs from within french websphere, Lyon's court of justice had sentanced this website. This suing without precedent represents a really bad new for community websites, yes, can we say that web 2.0 is suluble in courts and justice ?? Why, and how can a RSS news site be condemned for the responsibility of publishing what its users say inside their own websites ?

Yes, Fuzz.fr dif only print on its pages the RSS fluxes of its users only, and the 'offending' bulletin was not even written by Dupin, but only by one of its users.

So yes, Lyon's court did condemn Fuzz in terms of a moral person, a company, declaring its versy responsability in the affair, but, did it condemn the website authoring news offending the actor ?? Nothing is said in this part of the affair. But one has to keep in mind that Fuzz was not the only one to be pursued then, some 20 sites around are also charged for the same reason.

a buzz for Fuzz.fr Print E-mail

fuzz_mini.gifBuzz.fr is a digg like news aggregator that was administratively and arbitrary closed because one of his members did publish some information that was "to provoke prejudice" to a well known media person.

Everyone involved in buzzing the internet hope that this situation will clarify soon and that everything will smoothen without judicarization. All this seriously lacks schowbizz gloss for the involved actor should only have asked that the so offending link would have been removed. Everyone knows in that case it would have been done, if asked, and fast in any case, ..... this suing is a really bad publicity, and a very bad buzz for the actor.

quaerologo.gifWhere is quaero going ?

In 2005, launched by a franco - german innovative initiative, quaero (latin for 'I search') project never ends to begin. In its origins it was designed to be an european response to Google and Microsoft live search on the already over disputed search engine market.

Still in its origins, Qaero was supported, at least partially by some private companies or universities and schools like Thomson, with his german affiliates Thomson-Brandt GmbH and Grass Valley Germany GmbH, France telecom, and some middle sized companies like Jouve et Bertin Technologies, smaller companies like Ealead, Vecsys , Synapse development and  LTU technologies.

These private companies and consortiums were to work with research organisms like LMSI-CNRS, for public labs coordination, INRIA, Rhenany - Wesphaly technical university, Karlsruhe university, IRCAM, Grenoble Joseph Fourier  university, IRIT, ENST.

Some other partners were to join the project as it was running its development.
